Simply Red stormed the international music charts in 1985 with their debut single "Money’s Too Tight to Mention". "Picture Book", their first album released in that same year, included further hits like "Holding Back the Years" and "Come to My Aid". This resulted in a continued success story for the band; their album "Stars" was even the best-selling album in Great Britain in 1991 and confirmed Mick Hucknall's international reputation as "best white soul singer". With the release of their tenth album "Stay" in 2009, Mick Hucknall announced that this would be the last album by the band and that they would be going their separate ways after the subsequent world tour.
"Over 40 separately released singles were produced from their album releases – from ballads to disco hits. We'll still have the catchy melodies from Simply Red in our heads for years to come. It's an undisputable fact that Simply Red and their singer Mick Hucknall are among the most successful ambassadors of pop music," proclaims HÖRZU.
